adobe reader… its free.. and reads pdf files so you cant have to convert them

acrobat is the best from my experience. but sounded from your question is that you might not be using a computer. may be you should be more specific in where would you like to read it, eg iphone? nokia? BB?

I’ve been using Stanza for non-PDF files. It can do some file conversion and so can Calibre.
